Umo Eno, governor of Akwa Ibom state and member of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says President Bola Tinubu will complete his
eight-year tenure.
He spoke on Tuesday at the launch of the 65km three-lane
dual carriageway in Akwa Ibom, which is part of the Lagos-Calabar highway
project.
“Let me end by ensuring our president, our people-loving
president, who will complete 8 years because we are going to stand by him,” he
said.
“And this is the truth. He cannot start this work and abandon it. Somebody else may not finish it.
“Bible says, who is this mountain that is standing before
Zerubbabel? The hand that has started this work, that hand shall do what? Shall
complete it.
“Our prayer is to pray for Mr. President for good health. To
finish the work that he has started and commission this work, so that this work
will not be abandoned.
“It will not be like with the east-west road, like we have
stayed there forever. This one will be finished, and the hand that has started
it will finish it in Jesus’ name.”
Eno also said his administration would continue to
collaborate with Tinubu’s government to develop the state.
“We will also work with him across party lines. We will
continue to work with him to spread the news of prosperity to deepen our unity
and faith and pride of the Nigerian state,” he added.
On Monday, Ose Anenih, a chieftain of the PDP, said
governors in the party “do not have the balls” to take on Tinubu ahead of the
2027 general election.
In a post on X, Anenih described the PDP governors forum’s
declaration that it would not join any merger or coalition, as “hubristic” and
out of touch with political reality.
Also reacting to the resolution, Dele Momodu, the publisher
of Ovation Magazine, alleged that PDP governors opposed to the coalition may
secretly be working for Tinubu.
Speaking on Arise Television on Monday, Momodu said none of
the leading opposition parties can singlehandedly unseat Tinubu.
