Victor Osimhen scored the opener in Galatasaray’s 5-1
thrashing of Konyaspor to qualify for the final of the Turkish Cup.
The 26-year-old opened the scoring in a goal-fest semi-final
held at the Torku Arena on Tuesday.
Galatasaray qualified for the final four after defeating
arch-rivals Fenerbahce 2-1 in the quarter-final. Osimhen scored a brace in the
feisty match, which had four red cards.
The semi-final was a complete cruise for the Yellow-Reds
with two goals in the first half.
Osimhen struck first in the 26th minute. Dries Mertens swung
a curling cross into the Konyaspor goal area, and the Super Eagles striker met
the ball with a powerful header that sent it straight into the top corner.
The strike was Osimhen’s 30th goal of the season in all
competitions for Galatasaray. He has 21 goals in the league, six in the Europa
League and three in the Turkish Cup.
Lucas Torreira doubled Gala’s lead three minutes before
halftime, and Rolland Sallai added another strike immediately after the
restart.
Konyaspor pulled one back through Pedrinho, but Sallai
restored Galatasaray’s 3-goal advantage just two minutes later.
Yusuf Demir will wrap the game up for Galatasaray with the
fifth goal late in stoppage time.
Galatasaray will face either Trabzonspor or Göztepe in the
Turkish Cup final on May 14.
