Former presidential candidate Peter Obi has decried the growing trend of transactional politics in Nigeria, where politicians pay youths to attack reform advocates online.
Speaking at Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C Peter Obi emphasized on how some youths receive some amount of money to insult good governance advocates.
“In the transactional politics of Nigeria, some people pay them to cause confusion, Go to social media, those that are being paid ₦20,000, ₦40,000 monthly to abuse you are the same youths you’re fighting for.” Obi said.
He went to describe the situation as both disheartening and ironic, stressing the urgent need for political reorientation among Nigerian youths.
