Nkechi Harry-Ngonadi, the Nigerian entrepreneur, has raised
the alarm over the disappearance of a woman identified as Ejiro after she
joined a prayer group on Instagram.
In a series of Instagram posts, Nkechi revealed that Ejiro,
CEO of @stylebyejiro, has been missing for over two weeks, with attempts to
contact her futile.
The businesswoman disclosed that the stylist had joined a
“special prayer group” on social media, after which she reportedly closed her
thriving business, sold all her possessions, and vanished without a trace.
Nkechi urged anyone with information about Ejiro’s
whereabouts to come forward, stating her intention to pursue legal action.
“Where is Ejiro? CEO @stylebyejiro? Few weeks ago, my heart
was troubled about two amazing ladies who were close to me and suddenly
disappeared, and one of them is Ejiro. I have been praying intensely for both
ladies, and my heart wasn’t at rest concerning Ejiro, especially,” she wrote.
“I tried calling and sending messages but to no avail. I
reached out to her family, and what I heard was troubling, but I decided to
carry out my personal investigations. I was told she joined a prayer group here
on social media and ever since she joined them Ejiro’s life and business went
down hill until she closed up completely.
“Sold everything she owns and disappeared in thin air. 2
weeks ago was her birthday, and like previous birthdays, I called to pray with
her, I haven’t been able to reach her till date. Please, anyone with any vital
information should reach out to me because I intend to take this up legally.
Ejiro needs help. Please pray for her.”
In a follow-up post, Nkechi accused the prayer group of brainwashing
Ejiro, isolating her from family and friends, and convincing her to sell her
properties and hand over the proceeds to them.
“Ejiro is like a daughter to me, whom I cherish a lot. Ejiro
is a sweet, kind soul and doesn’t deserve this. She joined a prayer group here
on IG and was brainwashed,” she wrote.
“The convener told her God wants to use her and asked her to
close down her shop that was doing very well. She sold everything in her shop
and gave the money to the group as a seed. She sold all her gold, car, and gave
the money to them.
“I am told that the prayer group brainwashed her and turned
her against her family and friends, so they could isolate her. Till now, nobody
knows where she is—dead or alive.
“We are looking for
those with information on where we can locate the camp she was taken to. This
matter has been directed to the right authorities. Ejiro needs our help at this
time. She needs our prayers.”
In another update, Nkechi named the convener of the prayer group
as Joy Solomon, claiming that the lady had since dissolved the group and
deactivated her social media accounts.
She also shared screenshots of other people who have come
forward, alleging that they also have family members who went missing after
joining the prayer group.
Solomon has yet to react to the allegation as of the time of
this report.
Ovie Daniels, the brother of the missing stylist, has also
shared disturbing details about her behaviour before she went missing.
In a video shared on Instagram, Ovie narrated how Ejiro
abruptly abandoned her thriving fashion business after joining “the
controversial prayer group”.
He revealed that Ejiro had become increasingly secretive
about her involvement with the group, even attempting to convince him and his
wife to join.
According to him, the situation took a dramatic turn when
Ejiro closed her successful fashion business, which catered to prominent
clients and generated good income.
Ovie said that despite his attempts to dissuade her, Ejiro
sold everything and shut down the business completely.
“Later, she said she was closing her business, and if you
knew her business, she was doing well. She sewed clothes for prominent people,
she was really making good money, and she said she was going to shut down the
business,” he said.
“I remember trying to discourage her, you don’t have to shut
down this business. If you are tired and the business has been stressing you,
there are better ways to go about it.
“Like a joke, she sold the whole thing, closed it down, and
she was at home doing nothing for over 6 months. We were worried, and we were
like something is off, and when her rent was due and she could not renew, and
she said she was going to move out of the place. We asked if she really needed
to move out; we even offered to pay the rent, but at that point, she started
shutting us out of it.
“I was at my own place in Abuja, but I noticed that she did
not even tell us when she was moving out, because I even offered to help her
move out. She just told us that she had moved out, she was staying with a
friend and she would sort herself out.
“That she was trying to have time with God, and he will tell
her what to do next, and I was like there is something off here. How can God
tell you to close down your business, now you cannot pay your rent, and now you
are waiting for God to tell you the next thing to do. I said, truly, God made
some moves like that in the Bible, but there was a purpose in everything.”
