United States President Donald Trump has urged Congress to defund the Public Broadcasting Service, PBS, and the National Public Radio, NPR.
Trump, in a post on his Truth Social media platform, branded the two public broadcasters as horrible and completely biased.
“NPR and PBS, two horrible and completely biased platforms (Networks!), should be DEFUNDED by Congress, IMMEDIATELY.
“Republicans, don’t miss this opportunity to rid our Country of this giant SCAM, both being arms of the Radical Left Democrat Party,” Trump wrote.
This is coming after the two public broadcasters faced an intense grilling from lawmakers on Wednesday over their outlets’ funding and editorial objectivity.
The House Oversight and Government Reform subcommittee hearing came as Republicans and allies of President Trump have assailed NPR and PBS as too liberal in news coverage.
The broadcast networks have also come under heavy scrutiny from Trump’s Federal Communications Commission, FCC, over their journalism and fundraising practices.
