Dangote refinery to operate at full capacity in 30 days

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery could begin operating at full capacity in 30 days.

Edwin Devakumar, vice-president of Dangote Industries Limited (DIL) spoke to Reuters on Monday.

At full capacity, the plant will be processing about 650,000 barrels of crude per day — an amount experts have said is more than sufficient to handle local demand of petroleum products.

“The refinery  is currently operating at 85 percent capacity and we can go 100 percent in 30 days,” Devakumar said.

The vice president also said the refinery is exploring new markets for its refined products.

“We are looking at all the markets right now,” Devakuma said.

On February 6. the Dangote refinery announced that it successfully exported two jet fuel cargoes to Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest oil and gas company.

The 650,000 bpd facility began processing crude into products, including diesel, naphtha, and jet fuel, in January 2024 and started processing petrol in September.

The refinery has since been making efforts to ramp up production, receiving about 24 million barrels of Nigerian supply in October and November last year.

Reports on January 28, said Dangote refinery is also expected to receive up to 12 million barrels of crude oil from the United States.
