The Kano Police Command has claimed there was a planned
terrorist attack on the Tijjaniya Maulud celebration, revealing it recovered
Improvise Explosive Devices, IEDs at the venue.
Speaking to newsmen at the Command Headquarters, the State
Police Commissioner Salman Dogo Garba, said the man behind the planned
terrorist attack is from Chad and had killed eight persons in that country
recently.
Garba said, “Politics aside, my forefathers my generation
hundreds years they were Muslims and Tijjaniya, and there is no way I will
politicize this issues, we truly received terror Alerts and we tracked the
suspects to the Tijjaniya Maulud celebration venue”.
“As we moved closer to getting him, he got the hints and
escaped to Cameron but thank God we have gotten the person who gave him shelter
in Kano and he has given us credible information on the person”
The Commissioner added that the Intelligence reports led his
teams to the recovery of serious IEDs and other heavy weapons at the House of
the prime suspect who fled to Cameron.
He said, “on receiving the intelligence reports, we combed
the whole area till day break and we succeeded in ensuring that the whole
programs was conducted peacefully”.
The Police Chief insisted that, “I’m a Muslim and my
generations are also Muslims and of Tijjaniya Sect so I have no personal
problems with them”
