Israel and Hamas have agreed to a ceasefire deal to end the 15 months of war in Gaza.
Quoting sources, the BBC said
the deal follows months of talks with Qatar being one of the key mediators.
Two days ago, an official familiar with the negotiations said mediators gave Israel and
Hamas a final draft of a deal on Monday to end the war in Gaza.
The official said the “breakthrough” was reached after midnight.
Bloomberg also reported that the Jewish nation
said they presented a detailed outline to Hamas and are awaiting approval for
final talks.
Hamas attacked southern Israel on October 7, 2023, killing
about 1,200 people and taking 251 back to Gaza as hostages.
The attack triggered massive Israeli attacks on Gaza, during
which more than 46,000 Palestinians have been killed.
The deal is expected to lead to the phased release of
Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners.
The implementation of the ceasefire agreement is likely to
start on Sunday.
Hamas is expected to release 33 hostages during the first
phase of the deal while hundreds of Palestinian prisoners are set to be
released from Israeli jails.
