The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has disclosed that renowned gospel evangelist, Rev Uma Ukpai gave him strength during the darkest moment of his life.
Pastor Adeboye described the death of his third son, Dare,
as the darkest moment of his life.
During that period, the RCCG G.O. said he drew strength from
the fact that Ukpai lost more than one child in a day but he kept serving God.
Adeboye lost Dare on May 4, 2021 in Eket, Akwa Ibom State, where he was based with his family.
Married to Temiloluwa, the deceased was the Assistant Pastor
in charge of Region (Youth) 35 before his death and was a father to three
daughters.
However, speaking during Ukpai’s 80th birthday at the
International Worship Centre in Uyo on Friday, Adeboye said: “I learnt
something else from him (Uma Ukpai) that if you really want to serve God then
you must ready to serve him whether things are pleasant or not pleasant.
“In the darkest moment of my life since becoming a
Christian, when I lost my son without notice, when my son phoned me on Sunday
evening ‘daddy, the weekend programme has been extremely successful, glory be
to God and thank you for your prayer support.’
“And the next thing I heard on Tuesday night was my son was
gone and I had to preach on Friday. I reference point that gave me strength was
Uma Ukpai.
“I know he lost more than one child in a day and he did not
waver, he kept on serving God, he gave me strength at a time when I needed it
the most.
“It’s only when you get to heaven that you will realize how
powerful your influence is on earth.”
