Real Madrid have been drawn against Manchester City for the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League (UCL) play-off round.
The past two winners of the UCL were pitched against each
other at the draw held on Friday at the House of European Football in Nyon,
Switzerland.
The UCL play-off round is for teams that finished outside
the top eight in the new league format and failed to secure automatic
qualification for the second round.
While the teams in the bottom eight were eliminated, the clubs that finished between ninth and 24th place were paired against each other for a place in the next round.
Real Madrid placed 11th in the preliminary stage, just one
point below the automatic qualification spot. Man City sneaked into the
play-off spot after winning the final match of the preliminary stage against
Club Brugge.
The two teams will face off for the third consecutive season
across several rounds of the competition.
In other match-ups in the play-off, Bayern Munich will play
Celtic while Atalanta will face Club Brugge.
Paris Saint-German will take on Brestois FC, Juventus get
