Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has called on citizens of the state not to allow ethnic, political, or religious differences to divide them, urging them to walk together in faith and unity in their determination to achieve the Plateau of their dreams.
He assured that his administration will continue to prioritize projects and policies that touch lives and uplift communities.
Mutfwang stated this during a statewide broadcast on New Year’s Day in Jos, the state capital.
He said, “My fellow citizens, let us not allow ethnic, political, or religious differences to divide us.
“As we step into 2025, let us walk together in faith and unity, determined to achieve the Plateau of our dreams.
“We will continue to prioritize projects and policies that touch lives and uplift communities,” he assured.
Speaking further, the governor said, “The year 2024 marked a critical turning point for Plateau State. Through our budget tagged ‘Budget of New Beginnings,’ we laid a robust foundation for rebuilding and repositioning our state for peace and prosperity.
“Despite the hurdles we encountered, including litigations, our collective mandate was restored and reaffirmed amidst jubilation,” he maintained.
“For this, I remain deeply thankful for your steadfast support and faith in this administration. Together, we have embarked on a shared journey to deliver good governance and tangible dividends of democracy.”
According to him, “From the moment I assumed office, peace and security have been our topmost priorities. In 2024, we made bold investments in technology and logistics to strengthen the surveillance and protection of our rural communities.
“Our efforts have already begun yielding significant results, as unprovoked attacks, once rampant, are steadily declining.
“However, while we have recorded progress, some communities continue to face security challenges,” he decried.
“Let me assure you that we will not rest until enduring peace is achieved across Plateau State,” Mutfwang assured.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to all those who have suffered from attacks across the state. Your pain is our pain.”
While further reassuring citizens of the state of enhanced security, the governor said, “As a government, we remain committed to partnering with the Federal Government and other stakeholders to end these avoidable tragedies.”
Mutfwang expressed his appreciation to the security agencies for their sacrifices and diligence in their efforts to stem the tide of crime and criminality across the state.
Meantime, the governor announced the payment of fines for various offenders—eleven of them—who committed various offenses and had their jail terms quashed.
