What I did to woman who beat up my late mum when she sought help- Jerry Eze

Jerry Eze, the founder and president of Streams of Joy International, has recounted his encounter with a woman who had assaulted his mother when he was young.

The cleric was delivering a piece of advice on forgiveness and liberation in a post via X on Wednesday.

He said the woman, who was a neighbour, had beaten up his mother. He described the incident as a “traumatic memory” that had stayed with him for a long time.

The cleric said years later, the same woman came to him seeking help and prayers. He said she had been impacted by his ministry programme NSPPD and wanted to share her testimony.

Eze said he was faced with a difficult decision; to hold onto the past or extend forgiveness and help. He said he however decided to forgive and assist her.

“So yesterday, I met a woman who beat up my late mum terribly. Anyone who knows me would know how much I adore my Mum. I was young and she was a young woman at the time and we lived in the same compound,” he wrote.

“She threw my mum on the floor and hit her so hard. That memory traumatized me for so long. She showed up to see me yesterday to seek for help and ask for prayers and mentioned how NSPPD had changed her life.

“It’s amazing how I extended help to her and she broke down in tears. She remembered what happened, I remembered too, most importantly I had forgiven.

“Forgiveness is so liberating. I know it hurts, please forgive!!! The Holyspirit will help you. May God give you the grace to forgive right now in Jesus name.”
