Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode on Sunday said Nigeria does not need to collaborate with France and Lakurawa terrorist organization to destabilize Niger Republic.
Fani-Kayode said Nigeria is not part of the western powers sponsoring terrorists organizations to wretch havoc on the West African sub region.
He was reacting to claims by President Tchiani of Nigeria Republic that President Bola Tinubu was conniving with France to destabilize his country.
Tchiani had disclosed this in an interview with Radio-Télévision du Niger.
He alleged that the Lakurawa terrorist group, with the help of foreign security forces, including Nigeria’s, was responsible for the attack on the Niger-Benin oil pipeline on December 13, 2024, in Gaya, Dosso Region of Niger Republic.
Reacting, Fani-Kayode posted on X, : “If Nigeria wanted to destabilise Niger Republic I do not believe that we would need France or any terrorist organisation to do so.
“I have maintained that the western powers are behind the terrorist groups that have plagued the West African sub region over the last 15 years and for the last ten years I have publicly stated this and given my reasons.
“I am equally certain that Nigeria, being one of the major victims of these terrorist organisations, has had no part in it and that no Nigerian President, past or present, has indulged in such grave and dangerous actions.
“The Nigerien Military Head of State, Abdourahamane Tchiani, would do well to be careful not to provoke our wrath with his absurd assertions and remain mindful of the fact that the defence budget for his country, Mali and Burkina Faso COMBINED is not up to 25% of Nigeria’s.
“Tchiani’s grave allegations that President Tinubu and NSA Nuhu Ribadu have been bought by the French to destabilise Niger Republic, that our Government is jointly sponsoring a terrorist group with France to do same and that there are French military bases in Nigeria are infantile, puerile, mendacious and asinine.
“It is a squalid attempt by the Nigerien Head of State to sow the seeds of dissention in our country, to alienate our people from constituted authority, to divide our people and to undermine the Tinubu administration.
“It is also highly provocative and the FG should consider the possibility of taking other more extreme measures if this reckless provocation continues.
“We are under no obligation to show restraint when we are being undermined and maligned.”

Can Nigeria ditch wrath against any country? Are you unaware that those three new confederated states are more powerful in terms of military strength more than some European countries? You shouldn’t judge Niger Republic as a country which can easily be annihilated by any other country as you have just said in your interview. The bottom line is that, we can’t rubbish General TIANI’s interview as lies because I am convinced that some of his comments about Nigeria should be taken seriously. Our President was the first African president who volonteed to intervene militarily in Niger, Chad and Bukina Faso when the military took over power in their respective countries. Now that these countries have total backing from Russia, China, Nirth Korea, Iran and Turkey, Nigeria wants to go to war with them, anyway, I pity our military who dare want to face them in the battle field. I think, whatever how you see TIANI interview, I am confident that there are some elements of truth in what he said, because, don’t forget he was the country’s Military Intelligence Chief, and now, since he is president of Niger, he has increased the country’s intelligence gatherings and reports on terrorist daily activities with the European forces and members of Boko Haram fraction to help destabilise the West African countries and especially the Sahel Region which is rich in different minerals resources. The west can not survive if they don’t siphon Africa resources @ € 00:14 cents, and they sell them to other countries @ €230. There’s no way any more for the west to continue exploiting resources from Africa freely because the Chinese and the Russians Federation are protecting them. The newly confederated African countries are armed to the teeth, and the United States has already warned his European allies of the threat they face if they invade them- Burkina Faso, Mali and Nicer Republic. Nigeria will have his own share of the ridicule and disaster if he plays to the gallery of the western and accept to destabilise Niger due to extreme pressure. An attack on one of the country is an attack against the three countries and the consequences will be catastrophic for Nigeria.
