Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has disclosed that he is 70 percent from Bayelsa State.
Fubara made the remark while noting that there is no
difference between Rivers and Bayelsa States.
Speaking at the state’s government House in Port Harcourt,
the state Capital while receiving Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa, Fubara called
for continued understanding and friendship between both states.
According to Fubara: “I would want to put mine this way that
there is no difference between Rivers and Bayelsa, we are one.
“More especially my identity as a person is 70 percent
Bayelsa, it’s left for people to understand what I have said.
“But the truth about it is that it would be really out of
place if as a governor of Rivers State today, I don’t have that understanding
and friendship, that family relationship with a brother State.
“The builders of this state before the present political
dispensation were all from Bayelsa State, the records are there.
“So, our story is not complete except we add our side of the
Bayelsan, so when his dad Excellency was saying here that we had an
understanding, that is the right thing to do.
“What are we fighting for? Issues of life are just mere
understanding, we are not going to leave this earth with anything but the
legacy we leave is that building of relationships.”
