Veteran singer, Eldee The Don has revealed the role he played in the early stages of Grammy-winning singer Wizkid’s career.
Featuring in the Adesope Live show, Eldee revealed that he was the one who convinced Wizkid to do afrobeats.
He mentioned that when Wizkid was signed to EME record label, he was initially leaning towards Reggae and Dancehall, but he advised him to create music with Nigerian influences.
“Wizkid was leaning towards Reggae and Dancehall when Banky W signed him before he dropped his first single but I told him he has to find a middle ground and do something Nigerian with a lot of flavors in it,” he said.
Eldee said Wizkid took the advice and started making Afropop songs like ‘Don’t Dull,’ which gave him a big break.
