LP lawmaker Attah spotted wearing cap with Tinubu’s insignia

A picture of Thaddeus Attah, a member of the house of representatives, has set tongues wagging and thumbs twiddling.

Attah, who was elected into the green chamber from the platform of the Labour Party (LP), is seen wearing a cap embroidered with a symbol made popular by President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The legislator, who represents the Eti Osa federal constituency of Lagos, posted the pictures on his X page.

X users have been asking the lawmaker if he is a BAT (Bola Ahmed Tinubu) disciple.

Prince Saviour posted the image with the caption: “Opposition Otilo ooh, our Lagos Labour Party House of Representatives, Representing Eti OSA Federal Constituency Putting on Tinubu cap. Ire ooh.

“What pains most is the people sacrifices, time, resources, sweat and tears and blood put together to elect these guys voluntarily.”

Another user wrote: “Obidients/Eluuuu-P in Lagos rejected a sound guy like Banky-W because he is PDP, and opted for this Thaddeus Attah, to Represent Eti OSA Federal Constituency.

“Na Oga wear Tinubu cap so. Opposition tilo ni yen. This is purely labouring in vain.”

In February 2023, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Attah winner of the Eti Osa federal constituency seat.

Attah won the election with 24,075 votes to defeat Bankole Wellington of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), popularly known as Banky W, who scored 18,666 votes.

Babajide Obanikoro of the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured the third spot with 16,901 votes.

Dissatisfied with the result, Wellington and Obanikoro approached the tribunal to challenge Attah’s victory.

In September 2023, the tribunal ordered INEC to conduct a supplementary poll in 32 polling units in the constituency within 90 days.

In November 2023, the appeal court sitting in Lagos affirmed Attah as winner of the Eti Osa house of representatives seat.

The three-member panel dismissed the verdict of the national assembly election petitions tribunal that invalidated Attah’s victory.
