Former Manchester City defender, Benjamin Mendy has won the majority of his case against the Cityzens for over $14.2 million in unpaid wages after his r@pe charges.
Mendy had filed a claim against Man City last year, seeking unpaid wages from when the Premier League club stopped paying him in September 2021, shortly after he was charged with s3-xual offences, until the end of his contract in June 2023.
The Frenchman was acquitted of six counts of rape and one count of s3-xual assault in January 2023, following a trial at Chester Crown Court.
Mendy was found not guilty of one count of r@pe and one of attempted r@pe after a retrial.
He argued that Man City unlawfully deducted wages that he was due under his contract, saying in a witness statement that he had been promised he would be paid after he was cleared.
However, Judge Joanne Dunlop has now said in a written ruling on Wednesday that Mendy is entitled to get some part of his wages at Man City.
“Mr Mendy is entitled to recover some, but not all, of the sums claimed,” Dunlop said.
