VeryDarkMan, the controversial activist, has asked Femi Falana, the human rights lawyer, to include crossdresser Bobrisky in his lawsuit.
Last month, the activist shared an audio conversation
wherein Bobrisky, the social media celebrity, claimed that Falana and his son
Falz helped drop the money laundering charges against her by the EFCC.
In the recording, Bobrisky alleged that she spoke with Falz
in prison and that the rapper and his dad “tried to get me a presidential
pardon in exchange for N10,000,000″.
Bobrisky has since denied the recording and threatened to
sue VeryDarkMan for defamation.
Falana and Falz have also threatened to institute legal
action against the activist if he refuses to retract his comments and
apologise.
Falana recently described the action VeryDarkMan took as
“infantile radicalism”.
Reacting to questions during his appearance on a Channels TV
programme, he also maintained that he has never met with Bobrisky.
“We are not going to
file a criminal complaint. We won’t be pushed to do that,” Falana added.
“What we are going to do is to embark on civil proceedings
with a view of restoring our integrity — my own name and that of my son — so
that nobody will simply rush to the social media to defame any Nigerian. We
want to make an example.”
But in an Instagram post on Friday, VeryDarkMan asked
Falana, who is a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), to sue Bobrisky.
The activist, who had earlier apologised to Falana over
defamatory remarks, argued that the viral recording did not originate from him.
VeryDarkMan also insisted that he released Bobrisky’s audio
conversation to “expose corruption”.
“I refuse to make this about VeryDarkMan and the Falanas. It
is about exposing corruption that has eaten the system so deep,” he said.
“How does that help us a country when the thieves that are
committing crimes, there is no guarantee that they are being locked up. We
should be bothered. It’s not about the Falanas and VeryDarkMan, it is about the
crime.
“That recording is obviously already looking like the truth.
My own is if they are serving me a letter, they should also serve Bobrisky the
same letter because I am not the origin of the tape. Serve the two of us if you
are angry.
“Uncle Femi is
somebody that I respect, if I see him today I will still lay on the ground even
if he eventually takes me to court. If push comes to shove, I spend two or
three months and come back, which is not going to happen.
“Anyway, I will be waiting for the letter when they serve
me, that one is not a problem. My own is that the corruption must be exposed.”
VeryDarkMan, through Deji Adeyanju, his legal
representative, had previously denied putting out a defamatory statement
against Falana.
The activist, however, did not apologise or retract the
statement as requested, arguing that nobody was defamed.
Folakemi Falana, the daughter of Falana, had earlier
revealed they would take the activist to court for alleged defamation.
