The Kano State Government has donated N100 million to support victims of the recent floods in Borno State.
The cheque for the N100 million donation was presented to
the Governor of Borno State by representatives of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf,
including the Kano State Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, the
Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Eradication, Hajiya Amina Sani
and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Policy and Social Development,
Danyaro Yakasai, during a sympathy visit on Sunday.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf expressed deep sympathy for the
victims, describing the humanitarian crisis as catastrophic and calling for
widespread support for the affected people.
He emphasized that such disasters require collective efforts and reaffirmed Kano State’s solidarity with Borno during this difficult time.
He also prayed to Allah to prevent future occurrences of
such floods.
Governor Yusuf highlighted the longstanding, brotherly, and
cordial relationship between Kano and Borno States.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost
their lives in the flood and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.
In response, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum expressed
profound gratitude to the Kano State Government and its people for their
generous support.
He assured that the donation would be used judiciously for
the benefit of the flood victims, ensuring it reaches those most in need.
“This act of kindness exemplifies the unity and shared
commitment of Nigerian states in times of crisis,” he added.
