A Lagos State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Badagry on Thursday ordered that a 28-year-old man, Stanley Amos, be remanded in a correctional centre for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.
Chief Magistrate Patrick Adekomaiya directed that Amos be held in the Awarjigoh Correctional Centre in Badagry after Amos pleaded not guilty to defilement.
In addition, Adekomaiya ordered that the case file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
He adjourned the case until November 25, for a ruling on Amos’ bail application and the DPP advice will be considered.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Ayodele Adeosun, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Sept.22, at about 3.00pm at Caroline Area of Aradagun, Badagry, Lagos.
Adeosun said the offence committed contravened the provisions of sections 137 and 261 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
