Former Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and Peter Obi, Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, attended the International Leaders Forum (ILF) in Chicago.
The 11th ILF will hold on the sidelines of the Democratic
National Convention (DNC) in Illinois from August 19-22.
Hosted by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) every four
years since 1984, the forum brings together senior politicians and
policy-makers from around the world to observe an important facet of the
American democratic process.
Obi said he was invited “along with two other eminent
Nigerians, and about two hundred other distinguished political leaders from
over 91 countries, including former Heads of Governments”.
“We were invited to
participate in the 2024 International Leaders Forum (ILF) on the sidelines of
the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, Illinois, holding on 19-22
August 2024,” Obi wrote on X.
“I am honoured and grateful to Senator Thomas Daschle and
the Board of NDI for the gracious invitation.”
Obi said the ILF offered leaders from Africa’s evolving
democracies the opportunity to share their experiences and learn from others.
Here are photos from the event.
The DNC kicked off on Tuesday.
Hillary Clinton, former US senator; Barack Obama, former
president of the US; and Michelle Obama, ex-first lady; have so far delivered
critically acclaimed speeches as they make the case for Kamala Harris,
presidential candidate of the Democratic Party.
