Abdulmumin Jibrin, a member of the house of representatives, says Alhassan Doguwa, chair of the house committee on petroleum resources (downstream), is an obstacle to peace in Kano.
Jibrin is a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP),
while Doguwa belongs to the APC. Both politicians have been aiming diatribes
each other’s way for days now.
In a statement on Saturday, the NNPP lawmaker said Doguwa’s
utterances are capable of brewing more tension in the north-west state.
“A peaceful Kano or otherwise, will have consequences on the
country,” Sani Paki quoted his principal as saying.
“I strongly believe
people like Doguwa are the biggest enemies of his party and the President
because of such deliberate divisive and reckless actions and utterances which
is deepening the already tense atmosphere in Kano.”
Jibrin added that Doguwa should never have insulted Rabiu
Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano.
“Doguwa has repeatedly tried so hard to drag others,
especially his party leaders into the issues I raised with him as a result of
his constant false and unwarranted attacks and insults to Kwankwaso,” he added.
“The reality is that
this matter is about Hon Alhassan Ado Doguwa, him and him alone. It is about
his reckless, insultive utterances and divisive character which he deploys to
malign Kwankwaso and deepen the feud in Kano.
“Today, Doguwa stands tall as one of the biggest obstacles
to peace in Kano.”
The heated exchanges between both men began after Jibrin
asked Doguwa to stop insulting Kwankwaso.
