Real Madrid have announced the signing of Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint Germain (PSG) FC.
The Spanish club confirmed the arrival of the French
attacker in a statement on its website on Monday.
Mbappe penned a deal that would see him play at the Santiago
Bernabeu Stadium until 2029.
He is expected to receive a signing-on bonus of just over
£85 million from the Galacticos. The fee will be paid in instalments throughout
his contract.
“Real Madrid CF and
Kylian Mbappé have reached an agreement whereby he will be a Real Madrid player
for the next five seasons,” the statement said.
The announcement drew close to a transfer saga which
expanded over two years.
Real Madrid were committed to signing Mbappe in 2022, but
the Frenchman agreed to a new two-year deal with PSG.
The extension with PSG happened after the involvement of
Emmanuel Macron, the French president, in the negotiation.
Mbappe had announced his departure from PSG last month. He
joined the French champions from AS Monaco in 2017.
The Paris club spent €180 million on the player when he was
18, making him the most expensive teenager in football history and the
second-most expensive footballer ever after Neymar.
