President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to use the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration to pray for the peace and stability of the country.
In a statement issued on Saturday by Ajuri Ngelale,
presidential spokesperson, Tinubu asked the Islamic faithful to reflect on the
essence of the celebration, which, he noted, bears strong meaning and
significance for the nation.
While congratulating Muslims in the country for the
celebration, the president said sacrifice and duty are essential ingredients of
nation-building.
He added that it takes collective purpose and will to bring
about great change in the country.
The president commended the sacrifices made by Nigerians in
the past one year as his administration “sets the nation on a firm pedestal of
growth and development”.
Tinubu stressed that the sacrifices “will not come to nought
as already propitious outcomes are beginning to manifest with the economy
strengthening”.
On June 7, Muhammad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, declared
Sunday, June 16, as Eid-el-Kabir day after affirming that Friday, June 14, is
the first day of Dhul Hijjah.
