The remains of Ibrahim Lamorde, a former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), will be laid to rest in Abuja today, May 28.
Quoting a funeral notification, NAN reports that Lamorde
will be interred after Zuhr prayer.
The former anti-graft agency chair died after a surgery in
Egypt.
“On behalf of the family, friends and colleagues, we write
to notify you that the Jana’iza of our late father, brother and uncle, DIG
Ibrahim Lamorde and former Chairman of EFCC is coming up on Tuesday, May 28,
2024,” the notification reads.
“The event will be
held at the National Mosque Abuja by 1:30 p.m. immediately after Zuhr.”
A family source was quoted as saying that the remains of
Lamorde are expected to arrive in Abuja from Egypt today.
Lamorde was the third chair of the EFCC and was appointed
after Farida Waziri was removed from the position.
He was the pioneer director of operations of the anti-graft
agency when it was created in 2003.
