Otti charges police to fish out officers involved in Abia indigene’s death

Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has expressed sadness at the unfortunate killing of an Abia citizen, Emmanuel Okocha, who is an indigene of Amanta, by a policeman last week.

He directed the Abia State Commissioner of Police, Kene Onwuemelie, to ensure that the officers involved in the incident are duly investigated and anyone found culpable made to face the full wrath of the law.

In a press release signed by Kazie Uko, Otti’s Chief Press Secretary, he stated that preliminary information from the state police command showed that one of the officers involved is already in custody and would be made to go through the disciplinary process of the Force and would be charged to court if found culpable.

The Abia Governor who consoled the family of the victim, also commended the Abiriba and Aba communities for heeding the appeal not to take the laws into their own hands through violent protest.

“The State Government wishes to assure the family and the Abiriba and Aba communities that there will be no cover-up in this matter,” the governor vowed.
