A member of House of Representatives, Adedeji Stanley Olajide has urged Nigerians to change their attitude towards local government elections.
Olajide lamented the situation where only few people come out to vote during local government polls.
He urged Nigerians to attach importance to local government election the way they usually do during presidential, National assembly and state elections.
The lawmaker who represents Ibadan North West/ Ibadan South West Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, spoke shortly after casting his vote in the ongoing Oyo State LG election.
According to him, citizens should attach importance to local government elections because local governments are the closest to the people.
“I want the people to attach importance to local government elections in the country.
“The people should come out the way we usually do during the presidential, National Assembly and state elections.
“Our people do not always come out for local government election. We should do it the way we used to do during the general elections.
“Because, it is your power. It is when you vote that you can ask for development. It is your right.”

I think Nigerians are fed up with systemic failure of INEC Elections and the Politicians who only justle for positions only to corruptly enrich themselves. Nothing is working positively in favour of the citizens.
