Bosun Tijani, minister of communications, innovation and digital economy, donated food packs to inmates of Kuje prison to celebrate President Bola Tinubu’s birthday.
The president turned 72 on March 29.
On Saturday, the minister posted photos of hundreds of
glossy food packs emblazoned with the president’s picture, for the inmates at
the Kuje correctional facility in the federal capital territory (FCT).
He said the “act of virtue” to “love and care” for the inmates
on the day signifies one of the values the president holds dear.
“To celebrate
President Bola Tinubu’s birthday yesterday, my aides distributed food packs to
inmates of Kuje Prisons and worshippers at the Abuja National Mosque,” he said.
“It was a gratifying exercise of love and care — some of the
distinctive virtues that mirror values held dear by our President.
“We wish President Bola Ahmed Tinubu many more years of
success as he leads our great nation.”
Last Sunday, the presidency announced that Tinubu was not
going to celebrate his birthday this year “in deference to the challenging
times” in the country.
The presidency said the president “does not want any of his
associates and numerous well-wishers across the country to organise any
celebratory event on his behalf or in his name”.
