Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has blocked midfielder, Hannibal Mejbri’s January loan exit from Old Trafford as the Red Devils wait on the return of Casemiro and Mason Mount.
The Tunisia international won’t be allowed to leave Man United on loan this month until Ren Hag is satisfied with his options in midfield.
Mejbri has pulled out of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) to resolve his future.
He has made nine appearances for United this season.
Ten Hag is a fan of the 20-year-old’s tenacity but he wants to get him more playing time to aid his development.
However, with Casemiro and Mount currently sidelined, United is short of options in midfield.
Christian Eriksen has only just returned from a five-week lay-off, while Sofyan Amrabat has missed the last two games for Ten Hag’s side
According to Daily Mail, Ten Hag wants to see the return of Casemiro and Mount before he sanctions Mejbri’s departure.
Hannibal spent last season on loan at Birmingham, where he made 38 appearances for the club.
He is open to returning to Birmingham for the second half of the season.
