President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Desmond Akawor as a federal commissioner of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
Tinubu swore in Akawor on Wednesday before the commencement
of the first federal executive council (FEC) meeting of the year.
In November 2023, Tinubu appointed Akawor as federal
commissioner of RMAFC following the death of Asondu Temple, the immediate past
federal commissioner of the agency.
Temple, an ally of Rotimi Amaechi, a former minister of
transportation, died on November 1, 2023.
In December 2023, the senate confirmed the appointment of
Akawor.
Akawor is the chairman of the Rivers state chapter of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Meanwhile, Tinubu is currently presiding over the council
meeting.
