Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Monday announced the arrival of CMA CGM SCANDOLA, an LNG-powered 14,812 TEUs container vessel in Lekki Deep Sea Port.
According to a statement by Jibril Gawat, Special Assistant to the Governor on New Media, the container vessel was berthed at the port on Monday.
He said the vessel has an overall length (LOA) of 366 meters and a width of 51 meters, and it is the first LNG-powered container vessel to sail to West Africa, arriving first in Tema before coming to Lekki Port.
Sanwo-Olu commended the management of Lekki Port, Lekki Freeport Terminal, and CMA CGM for the development , which he described as “a major feat in the Nigerian maritime industry”, and other achievements since the commissioning of the port.
The development comes barely a week after the Nigerian government berthed the largest vessel in Lekki Sea Port.
