Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has insisted that there
is no crisis in the state.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony for a 20,000-unit
housing project in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state, Fubara said the
state is safe.
“Rivers State is a haven for investment. What you hear on
the radio or see on TV – ‘Rivers State is not safe; there is a crisis’ – is not
the truth.
“Rivers State is safe and secure for anyone to come and
invest. Your investment is safe in our hands.”
No fewer than seven commissioners have resigned from the
Rivers State executive council amid the political tension.
The crisis is an offshoot of the bitter rivalry between
Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike over
control of the state political structure.
The rivalry led to the defection of 27 lawmakers from the
Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
