A former federal lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has urged the
President Bola Tinubu-led administration to recover money allegedly looted from
the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and the humanitarian ministry in the last
administration.
Recall that the former Governor of CBN, Godwin Emefiele, was
recently accused of illegally acquiring some commercial banks while in office.
Similarly, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission,
EFCC, has reportedly uncovered N37 billion allegedly looted in the Ministry of
Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development under former
minister Saddiya Umar-Farouk.
The alleged looting from CBN and the humanitarian ministry occurred during the administration of the former President, Mohammadu Buhari.
Reacting, Sani, in a post on his official X handle on
Sunday, said the funds should be recovered and invested in schools.
The post reads, “President Tinubu should recover money
looted from the CBN and the one looted from the Humanitarian ministry under the
Buhari ‘integrity’ administration and specifically use it to fund the budget of
our public Universities, Polytechnics, COEs and Federal Government Colleges”.
