A former federal lawmaker, Shehu Sani has reacted to the
recent horrifying incidents that occurred in Plateau State on Christmas Eve.
The blood-curling simultaneous attacks by assailants on over
fifteen communities in the Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of the
state on Christmas Eve.
The terrorists set different houses ablaze on Sunday night
and also looted farm produce and destroyed properties as they butchered the
residents.
The Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, on Tuesday, disclosed on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily that the death toll in the Christmas Eve attacks in the state has risen to over 115.
However, speaking on the development, Sani, in a tweet via
his X account on Tuesday, said he watched the video of the outcome of the
massacre in Plateau, adding that the scene of a baby crying on the back of the
corpse of his/her mother was horror.
He also described the sad incident as one of the most cruel
and evil acts of inhumanity he has ever seen.
Sani wrote, “I watched the video of the outcome of the
Massacre in Plateau State. This is one of the most cruel and evil acts of
inhumanity I’ve ever seen. Should we condemn it and unequivocally demand
justice or should we continue with the complicit practice of the deodorisation
of mass murder using religious or ethnic sentiments?
“The scene of a baby crying on the back of the corpse of its
mother is horror that should haunt the conscience of every responsible citizen
of this country.”
