Stakeholders of the Social Democratic Party, SDP in Kogi State have denied filing any petitions challenging the victory of the Governor-elect and candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the recent gubernatorial election in the state, Ahmed Usman Ododo.
Chairman of the National Stakeholders Forum of the party, Ayo Momodu stated this on Friday while briefing journalists in Abuja.
Recall that a report emerged on Wednesday that the SDP’s petition filed against the governor-elect at the Kogi State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal was stolen by armed men.
The Tribunal’s Secretary, Mr. David Mike, made the claims after he was reportedly attacked by armed men suspected to be thugs.
However, Ayo Momodu told journalists in Abuja that such a petition does not exist, saying it was not a part of the party to challenge elections in court.
“The Secretary of the Election Petition Tribunal in Kogi State claimed he was attacked and petitions stolen.
“Let the truth be told that the petitions are not filed before the Secretaries of Tribunals but the registry.
“We wish to reiterate that neither the SDP nor its candidate filed a petition at the election tribunal”.
