MTN Ghana has announced a price adjustment across all its
products and services.
The new tariff, which became effective on November 28, 2023,
the telecom giant said in a notice to customers on November 24, 2023.
It is understood that the adjustment is “a 15 percent
increase” in calls, SMS, and data rates.
MTN Ghana attributed the upward adjustment to rising
operational costs.
“Dear Valued
Customer, kindly be informed that effective 28th November 2023, the prices of
MTN products will be revised upwards due to increased operational costs,” the
notice reads.
“Continue enjoying our special offers on our network. Visit
our website www.mtn.com.gh for more details.”
The development elicited was received with angst as
customers took to the X platform to express their dissatisfaction with the
increase in prices.
Here are some of the reactions:

GHS 350 for a mere 92.88 gigabytes of data? @MTNGhana should review this for us.
I gotta start making plans to acquire a Starlink then. pic.twitter.com/AVuLw2BPzZ
Mtn Ghana what’s this? Or we should ask Akufo Addo 😭 pic.twitter.com/mt6mvrIxAM

if the cost of operation is getting higher for @MTNGhana then, they should stop buying brand new expensive car for 3years coming and currently stop driving in the Aircondition cars during morning and night time but in the afternoon only, this new cost on us is too much.

MTN Ghana raised its data rates by 15%. That’s outrageously unhealthy. 1st December, 2023, we boycott them. #BoyCottMTN #DropThatSimCard pic.twitter.com/55BLYL2JlF

Meanwhile, the hike is a reflection of the current global
economic landscape as companies continue to implement policies to ease the
burden of operational costs.
On November three, Multichoice Nigeria announced an increase
in the cost of its DStv and GOtv packages — the second price hike from the
pay-tv firm in the year.
