The Federal Government has disclosed that 128 Nigerians
benefited from its 50 per cent discount on transport fares at the Yuletide.
The Director of Press and Public Relations at the Ministry
of Transportation, Olujimi Oyetomi, disclosed this on Monday.
According to him, the Ministry’s Situation Room Monitoring
Team observed that 128 individuals travelling from Abuja to destinations in the
North, including Gombe, Bauchi, Yola, and Maiduguri, benefited from the
discount on their transport fares on Christmas Day.
“Implementing the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
for 50% discount on transport fares for Nigerians during the yuletide got a
serious boost especially as one hundred and twenty-eight travellers from Abuja,
who were bound for destinations in the North – Gombe, Bauchi, Yola and
Maiduguri were taken to their destinations paying only half of the transport
fares charged for each of their destinations, as monitored by Federal Ministry
of Transportation Situation Room Monitoring Team on Christmas Day,” he said.
Recall that barely a week ago, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
approved a 50 per cent inter-state luxury bus discount.
Additionally, the government listed GIG (God is Good),
Chisco Transport, Young Shall Grow, God Bless Ezenwata, and Area Motor as
participating transportation companies.
