President Bola Tinubu will on Thursday, join other heads of
state and government in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau, to celebrate the country’s 50th
Independence Anniversary and Armed Forces Day.
This follows his week-long engagement in Riyadh, Saudi
Arabia, where he participated in the Saudi-Africa summit held on November 10.
Tinubu, who arrives in Bissau on Thursday, is visiting the
country for the second time in his administration, this time at the behest of
President Umaro Embalo.
A statement signed Wednesday by the President’s Special
Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, revealed that Guinea-Bissau
marked its 50th Independence Anniversary on September 24, 2023.
However, the government had scheduled all celebrations for
November 16, 2023.
The statement is titled ‘President Tinubu honours invitation
to Guinea-Bissau for Independence Day commemoration.’
Ngelale also disclosed that the President is expected to
return to Nigeria on Thursday.
