Why I retired at age 32 – Real Madrid winger, Hazard reveals

Former Chelsea and Real Madrid winger, Eden Hazard has explained why he retired from playing professional football.

Hazard recently announced his retirement from football at the age of 32.

The Belgian brought his 15-year career to an end a few days ago after leaving Real Madrid in the summer.

Hazard had endured a difficult spell at Madrid, plagued with injury issues.

But he was a revelation during his seven years at Chelsea from 2012 to 2019 as he scored 110 goals and registered 92 assists in 352 games across competitions for the Blues.

Hazard also won two Premier League titles, two Europa Leagues, the FA Cup and the League Cup with Chelsea.

However, has admitted that he no longer desired playing football which ultimately led to his decision to retire.

“I always said that I would stop playing as soon as I no longer had fun on the field. I didn’t want to go play somewhere for the money.

“I didn’t enjoy training anymore… and I didn’t play anymore. The decision was simple,” Hazard told French outlet L’Avenir (via EuroFoot).
