President Tinubu has written the Nigerian Senate, seeking
the screening and confirmation of Ola Olukoyede as chairman of the Economic and
Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
If confirmed, Olukoyede will serve for a term of four years.
Recall that Tinubu had appointed Olukoyede as
substantive chairman of EFCC.
Olukoyede’s appointment followed the resignation of the
suspended executive chairman of the commission, Abdulrasheed Bawa.
Tinubu’s request for his confirmation is contained in a
letter read during Tuesday’s plenary by the President of the Senate, Godswill
Akpabio.
President Tinubu also asked the Senate to confirm Mohammed
Hassan as secretary of the anti-graft agency.
