Former federal lawmaker Shehu Sani has noted that the fiasco
going on in Rivers State between the camp of ex-Governor Nyesom Wike and his
protege, Governor Sim Fubara, is being monitored by other former governors who
made themselves godfathers.
Recall that arsonists torched the hallowed chambers of the
Rivers State House of Assembly on Sunday night, a development the opposition
party has described as the desecration of the legislature.
The rift among members of the Rivers State House of Assembly
on Sunday led to some of them commencing impeachment proceedings against
Governor Fubara.
Edison Ehie, Leader of the House, reportedly rejected the
bid to impeach the governor and was removed as the majority leader.
However, Edison has now been elected Speaker of the Rivers
State House of Assembly, as Governor Fubara fought vehemently to keep his
authority over matters of state.
Reacting, Sani wrote on X: “Other governors and godfathers
are watching over how the confrontation in Rivers will end; they are also
learning lessons from the war strategies.”
