Police parade killer of UNIPORT student

The Rivers State Police Command has paraded a suspected murderer and organ harvester, Demian Okoligwe, who allegedly killed and dismembered the body of his female lover, Justina Otuene.

Commissioner of Police Nwonyi Emeka, who paraded the suspect, said Okoligwe, a 400-level student in the Department of Petrochemical Engineering of the University of Port Harcourt, had invited his lover, Otuene, a 300-level student of the university, to his house, where he killed her and harvested her organs.

Narrating how the arrest unfolded, he said: “On Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at about 3:30 pm, operatives of Ozuoba Division received a complaint from a Good Samaritan and neighbour (name withheld) of Road 20 at the back of NTA Ozuoba. He reported that he went to his house and perceived a very bad odour from the direction of the room where one Damian Okoligwe, a fellow tenant, lives.”

The DPO of the station led detectives to the scene and, on arrival, forced the door open to discover a ghana-must-go bag containing a lifeless body.

The fleeing suspect was subsequently traced and arrested for an inquiry.

“The lifeless body of Justina Otuene, a 20-year-old Biochemistry 300-level UniPort student, was recovered and deposited at the mortuary. A preliminary investigation is in progress. The case has been transferred to the state CID for discreet investigation,” he said.

The Commissioner of Police also announced the recovery of four children from suspected child traffickers, who were paraded.

He said: “Following the reported case of abduction on September 9, 2023, by Ijeoma, 35, in Awalama, Rumuokoro Port Harcourt, detectives from the Special Area Division swung into action and arrested Ifesinachi Opara. His arrest led to the arrest of Happiness Enyinnaya-Iheukwumere, aka Doctor Hagi, to whom he sold one of the children.

“Further investigation led to the recovery of three more children trafficked by Doctor Hagi from different locations of the country.”

Children recovered from different locations in Port Harcourt include a year-and-seven-month-old Benedict Kpaka, Godgift Julius, 4, and Filomena, 6.

The CP added: “Further investigation revealed that one Angel Simonson, a 26-year-old female from Markurdi, still at large, is the supplier of these children to Doctor Hagi. Efforts are being intensified to arrest the culprit.”

Others paraded by the police commissioner include two suspects arrested during the raid of criminal hideouts in flashpoints in Mile 1, 2, and 3 Diobu, from whom substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other hard drugs were recovered.

Also, four suspected cultists linked to the murder of the late Ahoada Divisional Police Officer, SP Bako Angbashim, were also arrested, according to the CP.
