Former Education Minister, Oby Ezekwesili, has commemorated the third anniversary of the #EndSARS protests.
Ezekwesili called for the remembrance of those who paid the supreme price during the protests in 2020, stressing that “its never over until it’s over.”
In 2020, Nigerian youths gathered at the Lekki Tollgate in Lagos to protest against police brutality and general bad governance.
The protest later turned bloody after soldiers opened fire on the protesters are the tollgate.
Remembering the incident, Ezekwesili said it’s not over until it’s over.
Posting on X, she wrote: “How can we ever forget 20-10-20?
“A historic Day when the young of our Land discovered and began to collectively live out the deep words of Franz Fanon that:
“Each generation must, out of relative obscurity, discover its mission, fulfill it, or betray it.
“On this 3rd memorial, we must never forget the heroics who were killed, maimed and tortured just because they dared to stand and demand for a well-governed country that respects their constitutional rights.
“We must never forget the ones who have continued to stand on, having discovered their mission are daily paying the cost that it will take to fulfill it. It is never over until it is over.”
