All Progressives Congress national chairman, Abdullahi
Ganduje bowed down in praise of God, moments after the ruling of the Kano
Election Petition Tribunal.
The Tribunal declared Nasir Yusuf Gawuna as the duly elected
governor of Kano state and sacked incumbent Abba Yusuf of the NNPP.
Gawuna was Ganduje’s deputy for four years in Kano.
Although Gawuna congratulated Governor Abba Yusuf, whose
victory was nullified today, the party challenged the victory in court.
The party’s efforts finally paid off today as the three-man
tribunal faulted Abba Yusuf’s victory.
It invalidated 165,663 ballots which were counted for him
and deducted the votes from the 1,019,602 votes he initially won.
That left him with 853,939 votes, fewer than the 890,705 votes
of Gawuna.
The tribunal ordered INEC to present Gawuna with the
certificate of return and withdraw Abba Yusuf’s.
