UCL: It wasn’t only Onana, Ten Hag blames other Man Utd players after Bayern defeat

Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag has insisted that goalkeeper, Andre Onana is not the only player to blame for the Red Devils’ 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Bayern Munich took the lead in the 28th minute after Leroy Sane’s low shot squirmed past Onana, who took full responsibility for Man United’s defeat after the match at the Allianz Arena.

Serge Gnabry then doubled Bayern Munich’s lead four minutes later to give the Bundesliga champions a 2-0 lead by half time.

Four minutes after the restart, Rasmus Hojlund scored his first goal for Man United to pull Ten Hag’s side back into the game but Christian Eriksen was then punished for a handball inside Man United’s area and Harry Kane stepped up to score the penalty for the host.

Casemiro scored with two minutes remaining but Mathys Tel’s excellent finish restored Bayern’s two-goal advantage before Casemiro scored again with just seconds of the game to spare.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, Ten Hag then said: “It was not only Andre, of course he knows he has to stop that ball.

“But the way Sane came through, that cannot be. And I think the second goal is almost similar over the other side, how easy players are coming through and entering our box and can finish, it can’t be.

“In football there will always be mistakes, this was one mistake, we also don’t make it bigger than it is.

“As I said already it was not only Andre in that goal, there were more [responsible].

“After that in the second half he made great saves for us, he showed his capabilities, he will bounce back, he is an important player.”

  1. David De Gae shouldn't have been allowed to leave.

All happening in Man Utd is ETH fault and not any player's.

Why didn't he spend 100m on the Nigerian Napoli top striker. Which was what Man Utd needed. An already established striker.

Why didn't Man Utd go for Harry Kane.

Money spent on Sancho and Antony should have been used to get an established striker that the club needed.

Goal keeping department with DDG in the goalpost wasn't a problem, of course he's far better than Onana with hands, saves and reflex
