The federal government says the D-wing of the old terminal
of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, will remain open
for use.
The federal government made the decision to “ease
facilitation of passengers” through the airport, according to a statement on
Monday, by Abdullahi Yakubu-Funtua, director of public affairs and consumer
protection, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN).
Festus Keyamo, minister of aviation and aerospace
development, had directed all airlines to vacate the old terminal at MMIA, from
October 1, 2023, for renovation works.
Yakubu-Funtua said the D-wing will be opened to compliment
the new international terminal.
He said the renovation of the old terminal would be done in
batches.
The FAAN official emphasised the government’s commitment to
ensuring that passengers have a seamless travel experience.
“This is to inform the travelling public that the Hon.
Minister of Aviation, Mr Festus Keyamo SAN, CON, FCIArb has graciously allowed
the use of the D Wing of the Old Murtala Muhammed International terminal to
compliment the New International Terminal to ease facilitation of passengers
through the airport,” the statement reads.
