Nkechinyere Umeh, the 2023 UTME top scorer, has again dazzled many with her academic brilliance in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The 16-year-old student of Deeper Life High School in Mowe,
Ogun state, aced the exam with eight A1s and a B2.
The school confirmed her result on Thursday.
A breakdown of her result showed that she got A1 in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Further Mathematics, Economics, Civic Education, Computer Studies as well as Dyeing and Bleaching.
She only failed to make A1 in Physics where she got B2.
Umeh became a viral sensation after she got 360 in this
year’s Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.
She scored 99 in Chemistry, 98 in Mathematics, 97 in
Physics, and 66 in English Language.
Several individuals and institutions have celebrated her for
the feat.
Charles Soludo, the governor of Anambra state, granted her
a full scholarship to
study any course of her choice at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University
(COOU).
She was also given a scholarship to study any course of her choice at Anchor
University, owned by Deeper Life Bible Church.
The student applied to study Chemical Engineering at the
University of Lagos (UNILAG).
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) recently said 1,287,920 —
representing 79.81 per cent of the total candidates — obtained credits and
above in a minimum of five subjects including English Language and Mathematics
in this year’s WASSCE.
