Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and some chieftains of
the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are currently attending a stakeholders’
meeting in Abuja.
The meeting is taking place at the Bauchi governor’s lodge
in the Asokoro area of the nation’s capital.
Some of the PDP governors at the meeting are Godwin Obaseki
of Edo, Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa, and Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta.
Umar Damagum, PDP acting national chairman, Adolphus Wabara,
the chairman of the party’s board of trustees, and other members of the
national working committee are also at the gathering.
At the time of filing this report, the agenda of the
sit-down was not known.
Over the past few months, the opposition party has been
embroiled in a leadership crisis, which led to the removal of Iyorchia Ayu as
the national chairman.
