Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has withdrawn his nomination to serve as a minister in the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Premium Times reports.
Also, the ex-governor recommended a replacement to serve as a minister.
Quoting a source from the presidency, the online newspaper said El-Rufai had informed President Tinubu that he would no longer consider his nomination as a minister in the government.
El-Rufai reportedly assured Tinubu that he would continue contributing his quota to national development as a private citizen.
The report said El-Rufai has recommended Jafaru Ibrahim Sani, who served as commissioner in three ministries – Local Government Education and Environment in Kaduna State as replacement.
Recall that the confirmation of El-Rufai and two other ministerial nominees by the Senate was delayed on the ground of insecurity.
The Senate transmitted 45 confirmed nominees to the President.

That is good!. Let us see if sani will be his replacement. We will not forgive anybody that has a hand in removing one of the finest nominee just because of sentiment. I bet you tinubu will beg him to come back b4 end of first tenure.
ReplyDeleteI thank you for your comment. Some people hate ElRufai because of Muslim Muslim ticket he field in Kaduna, but for some I didn't bother because they are Shi'a in ideology
DeleteNothing can last forever except the word of God. For those who do not remember history very well, Mallam Nasir el-Rufia is was the biggest threat of our democracy during Buhari first term. Before the election he had issued serious but very damaging threat to election observers and European Union. He did tell that they can only observe the election but anyone who dares interfers will be sent home in body bags. Today such a man wants to become minister. Beyond that he is a very big security risk to the government and people of Nigeria. If the security reports against him were not true, let him go to court and contest it even as he has dropped him nomination voluntarily.
ReplyDeleteIn a decent society, El-rufai should have been in jail long ago! It's unfortunate that the likes of Elrufai are still being celebrated in Nigeria even when their heinous activities are glaring
