Abdourahamane Tiani, Niger Republic coup leader, on
Wednesday, received Muhammadu Sanusi II, 14th
Emir of Kano, in Niamey, the capital.
The meeting was part of efforts to find a lasting solution
to the political impasse in the Francophone country.
A meeting of leaders of the Economic Community of West
African States (ECOWAS) is scheduled to hold tomorrow after the seven-day
ultimatum issued by the organisation to the military junta in Niger to return
the country to civil rule failed to yield results.
